We decided to try something new and verify our innovation in a performance experiment. In collaboration with a well-known car manufacturer in southern Germany we tested the high-performance plastic pin of our spring plunger.

In both test scenarios, we used a similar setup:

• 9 spring plungers tested
• 3 variants each with steel and high-performance plastic pins

Test Setup 1

• Load angles: 15°, 20°, and 25°
• Nominal stroke: 50 mm (45 mm utilized)

Test Conditions

• 105 strokes/min 50,000 total cycles

Conclusion

High-performance plastic pins demonstrated excellent durability under angular loading, completing 50,000 cycles without failure or replacement.

Test Setup 2

• Load angles from 18° to 27°
• Initial inspection after 1,500 cycles
• Follow-up inspections every ~5,000 cycles

Conclusion

High-performance plastic pins significantly outperformed steel pins, showing no visible wear after 8,000 cycles under high angular loads of 27°.
